On Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm, City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive, the City Commissioners will once again be hearing the proposed amendments to the Neighborhood Conservation District legislation. This has been a resident-driven initiative which has involved community input and many public meetings over a two-year period.
Our commissioners and the public have been overwhelmed with misleading information. The commissioners have indicated that public support is key to their decision. It’s time to clear the air on mis-information and ask our commissioners to support the amendments which will clarify language, guide development and preserve and protect the character of our community.
HOW CAN YOU SHOW YOUR SUPPORT?
Attend the meeting and speak about your personal experience regarding the current code that has failed us. Do you have an out-of-scale building on your street? Has your neighborhood lost trees? Have lots been split only to increase traffic? Is the character of your neighborhood changing? Tell your story! The commissioners want to support our neighborhood concerns.
Email the commissioners TODAY, tell your story and ask them to vote “YES” on this legislation. It is critical that this passes First Reading. If not, we will continue to live with the current code which has failed our community.
